What We’re Doing Today

January 2007 brought a turning point for Turning Point! With its in-home ABA operations being absorbed by the Home of the Innocents, Turning Point created a complimentary service for famiies whose children are diagnosed with Autism. Individualized 1:1 Speech Language Therapy Services are now being offered through our Speech Pathologist who has a strong background in ABA. This dual specialization allows for faster progress during each Speech session.

Turning Point is also working to fully fund the Alexander Garcin O’Brien Scholarship Fund which will provide financial support to families who otherwise could not afford therapy for their children. The O'Brien Fund was created in 2001 from funds donated in memory of Mr. O'Brien.

Kentucky families affected by autism have little public financial support to treat their child’s Autism. Insurance Companies in Kentucky are only required to cover $500 per month of the cost of autism treatments (which typically run as high as $6,000 per month) and Kentucky’s Medicaid Programs are so under funded with long waiting lists that most families are unable to provide the proven treatmetns that their children require. Turning Point’s O’Brien Scholarship Fund hopes to be able offer scholarships in mid 2008.
